Lyndsey Knows Sarasota: A Native Perspective on Living and Investing in Sarasota, Florida

If you’re researching moving to Sarasota, Florida, or trying to understand what’s really happening in the Sarasota real estate market, context matters.

My name is Lyndsey. I was born and raised in Sarasota. I didn’t relocate here later in life. I grew up here. I went to school here. My parents built their life here. And now I’m raising my own family here.

That matters.

Because living in Sarasota is not the same as visiting Sarasota. And selling real estate here is not the same as understanding how this place has evolved.

This blog, and my channel Lyndsey Knows Sarasota, exists to give you a real perspective on what life on the Florida Gulf Coast actually looks like.

Not the brochure version. The lived version.

Why Being a Sarasota Native Changes the Conversation

There are many agents who move to Florida and build successful careers. That’s not a knock.

It’s simply different.

Growing up in Sarasota means I’ve seen:

  • Pre-2010 Sarasota

  • The post-recession rebuild

  • The 2020 migration wave

  • The inventory surge

  • The interest rate shifts

  • The recent price softening

I’ve experienced Sarasota as a student, as a young adult, as a homeowner, and now as a parent. I understand how the city feels at different stages of life, not just how it photographs.

If you’re considering relocating to Sarasota, that kind of long-term perspective helps you avoid expensive assumptions.

How Lyndsey Knows Sarasota Started

This platform started more than six years ago.

At the time, I was early in my real estate career and sharing insights about neighborhoods in Sarasota, daily life, and what buyers don’t see in listing photos.

Many people found me through videos about:

  • Best neighborhoods in Sarasota

  • Pros and cons of living in Sarasota

  • Moving to the Florida Gulf Coast

  • Lakewood Ranch vs Sarasota

  • Siesta Key lifestyle

Back then, the focus was primarily on helping people relocate to Sarasota.

And it worked.

But then I realized something important.

Why I Stepped Back From YouTube

The channel was growing.

The business was growing.

And I had to make a decision.

Was I building a brand, or was I building a business that could properly support the families trusting me with major financial decisions?

I realized I was spending more energy attracting new clients than building the structure needed to fully serve the ones already here.

That didn’t sit right.

So I stepped back publicly and built privately.

What We Built Behind the Scenes

Over the last several years, we focused on:

  • Systems

  • Processes

  • Transaction structure

  • A fully supported team

  • Keller Williams based business models

  • Long-term client experience

Now, when someone works with The AGNT Group, they’re supported from start to finish. Not just during the offer. Not just at closing.

That foundation matters in a shifting market.

Especially in a market like Sarasota, Florida, where inventory levels, buyer behavior, and pricing strategy are not what they were in 2021.

Why I’m Back Talking About Sarasota Real Estate

When this channel began in 2019:

  • Interest rates were historically low

  • Inventory was tight

  • Prices were climbing fast

  • Migration into Florida was accelerating

Today, the Florida Gulf Coast is different.

We’ve seen:

  • Higher interest rates

  • More inventory

  • Longer days on market

  • Price corrections in certain segments

  • Buyers negotiating again

If you’re asking, “Is Sarasota still a good place to live?” the answer requires context.

It requires understanding the difference between a softening market and a declining city.

Those are not the same thing.

What This Channel Is Now

Lyndsey Knows Sarasota is no longer just about relocating.

It’s about understanding:

  • What’s changing in Sarasota real estate

  • Why prices softened this year

  • How growth impacts daily life

  • Where new development is happening

  • Which neighborhoods actually work for full-time living

  • What seasonal vs full-time ownership looks like

  • How the Florida Gulf Coast economy is evolving

This is lifestyle content grounded in reality.

Not curated life.

Real life.

If you already live here, this space is for you too.

Because many long-time residents are asking:

Why does Sarasota feel different?
Is growth slowing?
Is Lakewood Ranch still expanding?
Is Siesta Key changing?
What happens if rates stay elevated?

Those questions deserve real answers.

The Sarasota Market Requires Perspective, Not Hype

There is a difference between:

  • A correction

  • A normalization

  • A slowdown

  • A collapse

Right now, Sarasota is experiencing normalization in many segments.

Understanding months of supply, absorption rates, price per square foot trends, and buyer psychology matters far more than reacting to headlines.

That’s what I’ll continue breaking down here.

Calmly.

Clearly.

Without fear tactics.

Without sugarcoating.

Where to Follow Along

What’s Next

In the next breakdown, we’re covering the real reason Sarasota home prices softened this year.

And it has nothing to do with people losing interest in living here.
